The 'Alpine Learning Center' is a name that was created back in 2003 by past President Mike Blomfield and his wife, Jennifer, as well as long time Avalanche Educator, Niko Weis. (http://www.niko.ca)
The goal was to increase awareness of avalanche risk and preparedness for primarily the snowmobile community and others that recreated in the mountains during the Winter months.
Since 2003, the Black Tusk Snowmobile Club through the ALC, has hosted annual safety courses (AST1 & AST2) at The Chalet and can lay claim to educating over 1000 students over the last 15 years.
In addition, the ALC is typically the venue for Search & Rescue (SAR) and their advanced education courses for SAR Members.
Our 'Director of Safety' is Evan Johnston.
