24-25 Alpine Education Series

Stay tuned for our 24-25 Alpine Education Series

We are looking forward to offering you a series of AST1 and AST2 courses, Wilderness First aid as well as Beginner and Intermediate riding clinics.

Alpine Learning Center (ALC) - Welcome

The 'Alpine Learning Center'  is a name that was created back in 2003 by past President Mike Blomfield and his wife, Jennifer, as well as long time Avalanche Educator, Niko Weis. (http://www.niko.ca)

The goal was to increase awareness of all alpine safety aspects including avalanche risk, wilderness first aid and preparedness for primarily the snowmobile community and others that recreated in the mountains during the Winter months.

Since 2003, the Black Tusk Snowmobile Club through the ALC, has hosted annual safety courses (AST1 & AST2) at The Chalet and can lay claim to educating over 1000 students over the last 15 years.

In addition, the ALC is typically the venue for Search & Rescue (SAR) and their advanced education courses for SAR Members.

Todd Eberts Memorial Safety Fund

Todd Eberts was heavily involved with Avalanche Safety Training alongside Niko Weis for many years.  During the Blacktusk Snowmobile club AGM of November 2023, a very generous donation by Brandon Gray of Two Sons Drywall was presented to the club.   The aim of this fund is to partially subsidize safety training in the back country for youth between the ages of 10 to 16 years of age.  To honour Todd and all the great work that he accomplished alongside Niko, we have named this 'safety fund' after him.
